Safeguarding Policy
The safety, welfare and wellbeing of every child in our care is our highest priority.
1. Our Commitment
Island City Elite Football Academy is committed to creating and maintaining a safe, positive environment in which all children and young people can take part in football. We believe every child has the right to be protected from harm, abuse and neglect, regardless of age, ability, gender, race, religion or background.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all coaches, staff, volunteers and contractors who work with, or on behalf of, the academy, and covers all activities delivered by Island City.
3. Roles & Responsibilities
Any safeguarding concern should be directed to our Academy manager, who will ensure it is handled appropriately and escalated without delay.
4. Recruitment & Training
All coaches and staff working directly with children undergo a screening process prior to appointment, including verification of coaching qualifications. Staff complete safeguarding training covering child protection principles, recognising signs of harm, and our reporting procedure, refreshed periodically.
5. Code of Conduct
Coaches maintain appropriate supervision at all times and do not spend time alone with a child outside of group sessions without another adult present. Physical contact is limited to what is necessary for coaching purposes and is always appropriate and respectful. Photography or video of players is used only for coaching feedback or academy promotion as set out in our Privacy Policy, and parents may opt out at any time.
6. Reporting a Concern
If you have a concern about a child’s welfare or the conduct of any coach, staff member or volunteer, contact our Designated Safeguarding Officer at [DSO email/phone] as soon as possible. All concerns are treated seriously, recorded confidentially, and escalated where required. If a child is in immediate danger, contact the Police (999) first.
7. Contact
To raise a safeguarding concern, contact us at contactus@islandcityelite.com.sg. In an emergency, always contact the local authorities first.
